1988 260E transmission removal--Top bolt is giving me a fit to brake loose and remove to get the trans out, any tips? Tried using various extentions/swivals but still having no luck.

Depends on the day
You DID remove the trans mount correct?
If so, pull everything down so the engine/trans will be at an angle. You're going to need a couple of the longest 3/8" drive extensions you can find and top that off with a wobble extension like the one i have from snap on: http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....re&dir=catalog
. put a shorty 3/8" 17MM socket at the tip of the wobble extension and you should be golden. go over the top of the trans and rest the whole set up while you position the socket over the bolt by hand (less time consuming then trying to fish the freaking thing around.
