320E engine turns OFF suddenly
Hi guys !!
Its been along time since my last post, glad to read from you again by the way.
I write because I recently got some engine problems with my car, like 5 months ago or so the car suddenly stopped, revs started to fall and when I hit the clutch it stopped.
I turned off ignition and give it another try and the car started perfectly and runned perfect for a long time since yesterday !!
I made a fast start in 1st gear, changed to second and suddenly the accelerator wasn´t responding anymore. As the las time, revs started to fall, car was losing speed so I hit the clutch (engine stopped) and I stood apart in the road, turned OFF ignition and gave it again and the car started again with out problems...
I fell unsafe when driving my car, what do you think I should do? First of all star diagnosis right?
Thanks to everybody

I had similar experience before. Engine stalled when slowly going uphill or in dead slow traffic. The mechanic said it was due to low fuel pressure possibly caused by (a) dirty fuel filter, (b) defective fuel pump, or (c) defective fuel pump relay. When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? If a long time, replace it. If it is a dying fuel pump (it should be twin-pump) you can hear hissing sound underneath the arch of rear wheel. If it is the relay, replace it. It is behind the battery, PN 003 545 24 05. The fuel tank tends to get rusty due to mositure build-up inside the metal tank so the fuel filter and fuel pump may become clogged. Change the fuel filter regularly and better still wash the fuel tank (job for the professional) for more long lasting results. However, the above is just my 2 cents; there may be other possibilities for the engine stops.

Sounds like ASR limp mode... Throttle actuator in W124s go bad, wires basically lose their insulation and short out.. There are several rebuilders out there, I used BBA-Reman in Taunton, MA. About $250 for the rebuild.
