1990 4matic - run without?

Hi gang
First post to the forum, lots of great info here!
Im in the process of negociating for a 1990 300TE 4matic. The 4matic light stays on and i understand aside from checking relay and fuses these things are likely not worth fixing. She can be had for 500. Can the 4matic function be disabled and set up to run fulll time without it? The self leveling function appears to still be working.
The car seem otherwise fine and for the price i might be able to squeeze a few more miles out of it. Thanks!
Aaron

Depends on the day
It'll just run in RWD all the time if it's all disabled and whatnot.

1991, 300te 4matic
If you switch off the 4matic with the test lever in the engine compartment you will run in RWD, but that will also switch off the SLS.
