400E sunroof

Sunroof started to give me trouble and I thought I was in for big bucks to repair. Fooled around with it and discovered that it was just the seal buckling up on the passenger rear. Worked it back in and everything was back to normal. That was until the seal buckled again. So, I'm at the point that I need to replace it. Can this be done as it looks without removing the headliner and sunroof? If so, anyone have any installation hints or experience?

yes seal comes out easily. Just slide it open and rip it out of there. When installing make sure you lube it up thoroughly.

Ive got some sunroof problem like that too. Still don't know what it is for sure, the shop I always take my 300E to informed me it would be expensive to fix and not worth it.

It still cracks up, it just won't go back. The motor works, and you can hear it trying to go back, it just wont for some reason.
Is it off track or something or is it also a seal problem?

It could be a couple different things but unfortunately yours doesnt sound like its a seal problem. You would really have to take it apart to get a true diagnoses of it. Your problem sounds more like a bad cable. How far does it slide back before it stops? Do you hear it binding up?

Looks like you just need to remove the wind deflector and the holding rails before doing the seal.

Haha it doesn't slide back a single inch. The motor comes on for about 2 seconds and just shuts off.
I guess the motor just shuts off because it knows the sunroof isnt going anywhere.

The shop i always take it to said its not worth it to have it fixed. They said you have to take off the roof liner, which probably won't go back on very well (its already saggy as hell in the back). But that was a while ago they said that.

I'm sure its no different now though..
