Are the front crossmember of our w124 removable?

Guys I'm tryin to plan this engine and transmission conversion.....does anyone know if the very front crossmember on our cars are removable? The part where the grill, radiator, and headlights are. I want to know if I'll be able to remove and install the engine and tranny hooked together!!! Thanks in advance!!!

unlike the w201's they are welded in. If you are going to replace the engine x-member, you can cut it and reweld it. The drivetrain has to be lifted high and at a high angle to install over that radiator over rider. I would not use the hooks on the head, I'd strap it around the bottom of the drivetrain if I were to do it again.

No but they bent. I used a balance bar but that's a lot of weight and the hooks bolt to aluminum.
