To be honest I don't know if i would ever put a K&N filter on my car. The K&N air filter will be worse for the car and shorten the life of the engine.

Although thats never been proven, the facts point to that. Basically speaking, the K&N filter is supposed to add horsepower because it makes the air flow more easily. This means that IT WILL let the air through more quickly, but it also lets more dust and particles into your engine.

Its up to you, but are you really going to risk your engines "health" for an extra 1 or 2 HP? Your car, and your decision, i just don't think that little HP is worth it.
I've taken my air filter out completely for about 15 seconds of running, and it didn't feel any faster, it wasn't any louder. If no filter doesn't make a noticeable difference then why would a K&N filter.
These cars were built to last, and theres obviously a reason MBZ didn't use a K&N filter on our cars from the factory.

As for the REMUS exhaust, a lot of people on this forum have it. I personally don't like the sound of it, but i guess others on here do. But i really don't think it would be worth the money.
I'm not trying to crush your hopes and all. I just wouldn't buy one, but if you have your mind set on it then go for it.

Actually, a properly oiled K&N filter does not let in a statistically different amount of dirt versus a paper filter. Read some test reports.

K&N can be usefull on many cars as it can be usless on many others. In my audi S3 it didn make a difference, in a W124 i dont think it will make any difference.

The remus exhaust is expensive but well...all the exhausts are expensive so its up to you if you want your car to sound that way or not.
The other choice is to have a bit larger downpipe and then straight pipes and a stock rear muffler.

Ok even if it isn't bad for the car that doesn't disregard the fact that it really isnt worth the money. K&N filters are like $60 and if you have to properly oil it will only keep adding up. I'll stick with the stock $15 air filter.
Whats the point in adding 2 HP to a car that really doesn't have a lot in the first place.

Where were you shopping for the stock air filter?
Not saying its a huge deal, but I know when Mercedes made this car, they made it the way it is for a reason. Start changing up too much stuff and who knows what can happen.
I'm not really against K&N air filters, i'm just definately not for them. Sorry to all K&N air filter owners but i just don't see the point in them.

Personally I wouldn't install a K&N air filter in my car. I have read a lot of stuff saying that K&N air filters are bad for the car, maybe they arn't.
But I love my car, and I'm simply not going to take the risk of possibly shortening its life for something as dumb as 2 HP. My cars worth under $4000, yes, but to me it is worth 10000x more.

Would i trade it for any new mercedes? HELL NO!
(As for 500e's im openly accepting all trade offers )

lol dont be a hater
too much hate for K&N is not the way.
As i said in some cars its worth it and in other not. In the W124 its not worth it, wont net you any hp anyways, not even 2hp.

i am neither a fan nor a hater, K&N can be used where its usefull and avoided where its useless.

the other point is, not everything done from the factory is the best option for the car. The W124 is a very well engineered car and build to last but there are some spaces left for improvments, and thats why we are on forums no?
