electrical issues? alternator?

Hey guys - never really posted before but i figured it's a good place to start.

I just bought a 1995 E320 sedan with 220k miles a couple of days ago and it's already giving me trouble. While driving in the city the instrument/gauge cluster decided to go out - specifically the rpm went to zero, gas to zero, oil to zero, and engine temperature went to zero - BUT the radio, headlights and interior lights continued to stay on.(the speedometer functioned normally) There was no perceivable difference in the way the car drove or anything.
So when I parked and turned the car off and tried to restart it three warning lights came on - the battery, the abs, and the check engine light. The srs airbag light was on when i bought the car. When I tried to start the car it wouldn't - it didn't make any noise at all. Just dead. I had someone try to give me a jump but nothing happened.

Use the diagnostic module by the battery. Here is how you do it. http://www.w124performance.com/docs/..._W124_M104.pdf
