Outside temperature display

Well, I fixed it.

The outdoor temperature display read 20 degrees pessimistic when I got the car. It was annoying, but relatively simple math to figure out the outdoor temperature.

The conventional wisdom in posts I read pointed to a bad outboard sensor. I ordered a new one ($65) and installed it (N.B. This required cutting the wire to size and soldering the connector pins). Result: the display read 23 degrees pessimistic.

I finally bought a used Fahrenheit display on e-Bay ($30) and installed it. It works perfectly now. By the bye, the new part (P/N 000 542 72 27) is $720 .

You could hire a weatherman for that kind of cash.
