17x8 on a w124

Is anyone running 17 x 8 wheels on a stock 124 (et35).
I've heard 8" will stick out too far. Found these wheels on ebay, price is great. Post photos if you have them.

I have 17x8.0 on my car, ET38. The ET35 wheels will stick out another 3mm. They will fit (use with 235/45/17 tires) but you will need to roll the fender lips, especially if the car is lowered OR if you corner hard. I have very little rubbing (if any) now that I folded the lips. Here's photos of the wheels, and also a Mercedes document detailing how to roll the fenders:

AMGDave, where did you get your shift knob? All I can find on ebay for the 124 cars are the wood ones.

That's just a later S-class (W140, I think) shift knob in gray leather. You have to get the correct shaft to go with it (they are 2 pieces). I bought them both from a guy who decided he didn't want to use them. Unfortunately I don't know the part number for the shaft...! I have a Carat zebrano wood knob in my other car though, which also looks nice...

Thanks for the info AMGDave, I ordered the wheels with
215/45 tires. I'll try to post some pics when I can.
