problem with the dash lights.

has anyone have this happen to them, since i got the 500e none of the dash lights were working except of the cluster and the ash tray light, then i saw a very dim light into couple of switches , today when i got into the car those buttons, not all, were lightened even if i didn't have the headlights turn on, even without the key in the ignition., since then there is the same. funny part is that it's not all of them,
in the first row only two: the back headrest release button and the window shade button, are on the other one, nothing, the heated seats buttons, and the gear indicator, anything else its all dead.
what do you think it might be,/

that was my first thought since i got it but i don't know if its that one , because it seems to work perfectly fine just with the cluster lights.
i got an extra cluster from ebay for the ce i have to modify it as i want without damaging the original and it had that dimer switch problem, but it wasnt workin at all , none of the lights and as you were jingle it all of them would turn on or of not just some ,

+ it stays on all the time

so now it is blinking . but just those ones that were on all the time, they go on and off like every 10 25 sec, i think it might be a wiring problem. what do you think?

I had a similar problem but kind of backwards, one day I was driving at night and it was raining and cold so I had my lights on, heater, wipers, rear defroster, and radio all of a sudden all my light went out, dash lights, headlights lights, the radio shut off, wipers stopped heater stopped but the car was still running? At the same time all that happened the rpm dial went crazy and went to zero (the car was still running)
A day later my battery was completely dead?
So once I changed it to a brand new one, when I drive at night I could see the bottom of the dash light ddim. My dashboard is fine light everywhere are working good but those little notifications like check engine, oil, brakes and stuff like that are dim,

So I think maybe if you changed your battery then that might be the issue?

thank you for the info, but the thing is that my fear is confirmied, i just got this car so i don't know it yet, bat as i started restore it, i started with a dteail cleaning, and i took out seats, molding panels, including the wood one from the shifther where the windows switches are and i saw that thers a lto of wires with electrical tape on it, not factory made for shure, so i didnt have time , but today i'm gona take a look into that problem,
90 % i think it is a wireing problem, but i'll see thank you anyways
