1991 Mercedes-Benz 300D 2.5 Turbo
Replace vibration dampener?
Recently the front flex disc on my '91 300D 2.5 Turbo failed--when it was off I noticed that the vibration dampener on the drive shaft had a few cracks in it--is this normal and should it be replaced? If so,does anyone have any recommended sites on where to get this?

Drive shaft vibration damper: remove it and do not replace.
When the rubber begins to show cracks it will not be long before it disintergates with a great bang and the loose outer ring tears up the underside area as it thrashes around and earns the car a guaranteed tow home.
It does nothing and was factory deleted from later models. Toss it.
