500e back on the road
so afther a long back and forth , i've decided to keep bouth, at least for now. and that means i have to restore the 500e, so today i've started it, by replacing the trunk and also getting the car register . i don't want to modify this car at all, i want to keep it as original as it can be , that's why i want your oppinion, on this. the trunk i got is a 93 model, shoul i go with itor stick with the 92 model, what would you do?

Looks like a '94 trunk, actually.
I would stay with pre-facelift to match your grill.
My '92 has a '94 hood (by PO), but even though I had a chance to repair the trunk with the later style, I stayed with the '92.

The updated trunks are 1-piece instead of earlier style 2-piece. I believe they are lighter as well. I would say go ahead and stay with the updated one, but to change the tails as well. If you want to stay original though, I suppose you should get an early one before you paint that one. I have revisited the idea of updating my hood on my 500E a few times lately. The standard w124 looks better to me with the early grill, but the wider fenders of the 036 work well with the snubnosed face lift. In the end, its all up to you buddy!

i bought it with the purpose of swapping the engine into my 300 ce, than i decided it's a crime to break such a beauty ,which required rebuilding the title, which i did , and decided to sell it like it was, but i didn't got what i wanted, and didnt want what i got so i decided to keep both , i don't care what anyone says , but there is nothing like driving this car, amazing.
even if i'm a coupe lover i would trade that for this at any time, just for the way it feels and drive.
don't forget that i bought it from ebay, without testing or driving it.
after 2 k miles of driving, these are the problems i found
first of illumination problem, (only cluster and ashtray have light)
second the right wheel bearing needs to be tightened , i have to change the front tires, and make an alighment ,
and third and the most important is the transmission, when i'm launching
first gear goes normal but when it shifts in the second there's a break till it grips and the rpm goes from 3000 to 4000, because i'm stepping on it, its like it skips some how, other than that everything else is i great cond.
excepet of the exterior dings i have to fix, and paint of course
