Stumble after deceleration '93 300CE

I have a 300Ce w/ 3.2L w/the M104 Motor, HFM-SFI.

100,000 mls. Engine in excellent condition, recent plugs, and all filters. No (zero) oil burned at 5,000 oil change. Typically this baby is quite fast.

I recently am experiencing a stumble at highway speed after a healthy deceleration, say from 85 or 80 down to 50 or 60. After this period of deceleration, the engine falls flat and stumbles on attempted acceleration. The stumble will last for 1/4 to 1/2 second, and then the engine will pick up.

Any ideas?

Could it be the device that shuts off the fuel during deceleration?

What about old plug wires? Three of the cylinders have short ignition wires to the plugs. Do these ever need replacement?

Thanks,

David

You can replace the three resistor boots under the coil wires.

Do you know if the engine wiring harness has ever been replaced? They are all bad on these engines from 1994-1995.
