1988 260E 265K and change. The piston rings are shot and it leaks/burns a quart of oil a week. What do you expect from a car that was driven by a teenage girl for 3 years? But I have plans on the way; new paintjob, rims and a C36 in time.

Teen girls should be banned from owning Mercedes.

I recently bought this babe in Chicago with 127,000 original miles. I drove it back to New York. Now has 130K and rolling very very well. No mechanical problems.
Some spots of surface rust -- but not near the wheel wells. Probably stone chips that went untreated.

2002 CLK55 Cabriolet (DEAD: 1989 300E, 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible)
1989 300E
Just passed 165k miles (I want my badge!).
I just spent $3k (ouch!) overhauling everything that didn't work completely 100% properly. Ripped out the A/C completely (new dryer, compressor, expansion valve, manifold hose - $550 for that part alone!!!, etc. - the works) and replaced it with a retrofitted R-134a kit. Thorough 165,000 mile service. New motor mounts. Replaced the passenger-side seat switch (it'd gotten stuck all the way forward!). A few electrical things behind the dash (some loose wires that ended up actually being in the engine bay - one attached to the alternator, one loose ground wire down near the A/C).
I gotta admit - spending over $3k on a car worth barely $4.5k seems kinda foolhardy to me But now it's back to purring like a kitten, and runs like a watch. How could I resist?
Besides ... lookit how purdy she be
