I have a 300ce 124 coupe 1991.Engine has started not to run even, from time to time cuts out. After a 2 or 3 hours will start again but only till the next time.I have replaced ovp,ht leads, dizzy cap, plugs, rotar arm plus 3 visits to Mechanic.I have noticed that after 1000km the Dizzy cap is burnt as if after 40000km.what can it be?

water/condensation in your cap

This sounds like condensation in the cap - burning the thing up in a few thousand miles is not good. There is supposed to be an o-ring in the bottom of the distributor cap to seal it, but I would also spray the inside of the cap with WD-40 (water displacement formula 40) - I used to burn caps until an old guy (I thought so then - now that would be me) showed me this 30+ years ago at the old Brainerd drag strip. Autohauz should sell them, and my local NAPA had one for my 75 when I last ran it (last summer).
