Need Help Asap Please!

So I was driving along today, just normal errands, and I had to make a U-turn to pull out of a shopping center. I hear this big "CLANK!" Like something metal just broke or hit something. So I finally get home to take a look at it, I get under the car and I see this:

Can someone tell me what this is?
Is it easy to fix?
Expensive?
Can a tool-handy person do it themselves?

THANKS! My poor baby is broken!

One more pic of the broken one:

Oh and by the way, I drive a 1991 300e, if that helps any.

Any answers are appreciated, thanks!

I don't really see you being able to do that yourself unless you have a lift in you garage. I would take it to a mechanic A.S.A.P. and have it fixed. Driving around on that would probably damage your frame further.

It's the rear anti roll bar link. It's not hard to change (or expensive). No real harm done!

To change it, jack up the rear. remove the wheel. undo the two small bolts holding the lower plastic plastic cover. unclip cover. remove the two bolts holding the broken rod and replace. Simple!

PPS!
Driving without it won't do any harm. Just that your anti roll bar's not working. You may notice slightly more rear lean and understeer than normal (but I doubt you'll even notice). just remove it asap so that it doesn't foul your brake line.
Take it easy until you fit a new one.

Additional Note: Jack up both rear wheels, or do it with car on ground.

If you jack up one wheel, you won't be able to put enough force on the sway bar to muscle it into mounting position.

No sweat job!
