project c124 "strawberry"
hi, i'm not sure if i'm in the right topic, but i'm here to tell about a project car what i'm building for a last year :surrender:
it all began in the summer of 2010, when i bought c124. 300ce-24 with mechanical transmission, full sportline package, completely ruined black leather interior and some extras. it was a wreck
but body had no rust, because originally it came from italy. engine sounded great and still had lots of HP ant everything else was... :crybaby2:
paid some money, took the car and after fun 10 km engine died oil pump failed
i started a project, having something like that in my mind.
for a long time i did nothing. but then i bought other engine. after some time a donor car that looked better than the one with dead engine
winter came. strawberry slept under snow coat. then sun shined, snow melted, but still no job done on car
so it was time to start.
i disassembled engine, ported head, shaved 1,7mm of it
took old engine out

I love seeing projects with this much attention to detail! Can't wait until it's all done.
I see you are also an E34 Touring owner like myself. That's definitely an M50 intake manifold I see in the hatch, so is it not running right now either?

my ex e34:
i drove it for a two years, made over 50k km with it, but never really liked it. i guess my hard is with mercedes
back to strawberry. i found some cool stuff lately. automatically tinting rear view mirror, electrical drivers mirror, sunvizers with lighted mirrors, heated seats wiring, brakes pump from 3.6 amg and front seats from 3.6 amg vagon.

I've had my e34 for 2 years and have never really liked it either. I've never even done any mods to it besides swapping wheels, and that was only because it was a straight trade. It's good to have a car you don't care about for the daily commute tho!

I had no idea the seat sizes between Sportline and Standard were so different!
How will you make the Sportline seat recline, is it a matter of welding the hinge mechanism from the standard seat to the Sportline seat? Or, will the covers and cushions fit the non sportline seat frame.....??

It's almost as well built, and you call feel the same Teutonic presence in both of them that I could never find in Audis or VWs.
Anyway, back to topic. That car is coming along wonderfully.

Upholstery skills are limited so a bit of detail would be a great help.

Let me be clear on this. You say you are swapping Sportline sedan seat parts onto a standard seat from a Coupe that tilts forward, and you will end up with a fully functioning tilt forward Sportline seat on a standard Coupe frame.....??
I had no idea this was possible, but I'm very interested if it can be done with a screwdriver.

Thanks Dievs2, a picture or two would be much appreciated, I'm just going through the process myself and I am especially keen to understand this, havent quite got my head around it.
Considering what you started with I think you have done an outstanding job, very rare to see paople go to the extent you have to make it a quality rebuild, LOVE the cam cover!!
PM me if you like......
