87 300d question white smoke
Im picking up a rare 87 300d w124 and the guy is giving it to me for 450 bucks. It has been sitting for a few years in his yard. I states the turbo is bad but the castates. He said when you start it it smokes white. Im a good mechanic and if the turbo is bad I can rebuild or put a bigger turbo on!!
Some of you may remember me I sold my 300e and regret it! ! Im excite to get this one so any mods things to check anything give me a pm or add on here.
thanks guys
Hope ph2cho is still on here!!

I had a Peugeot 505S turbodiesel and it produced white smoke at start-up when the head gasket went bad. Once the engine warmed up the amount of smoke was greatly reduced. A new gasket cured it. I'm not familiar with the Mercedes diesel engine but the head gasket would be my guess.

Yes, he's here, benzworld and peach parts
ErrrrgK,
It MAY be a head gasket problem
[It Might be a Head Problem,"Bannana" or "Cracked",I sure hope not!]
A compression test,in conjunction with a "Leak Down" test, will tell you all you need to diagnose.
Is the Coolant in the "Overflow" Tank Low?
Any water in the Lube oil ? "Milkshake" Look in the Oil Fill Cap + Dipstick.
How many miles and which head #.
GSXR has a Pictorial of his OM603 head R+R here:
