new to w124 family, need some help from the experts
hey guys, i was recently given a 1991 300e 2.6. it has a few problems which i want to fix myself to save some money. if anyone can help me out i would greatly appreciate it.
1) first question is...theres a tube coming off what looks like coolant tank that is disconnected, i tried reconnecting it but it is too short and very frail, i think i would need to get a new one. what is this?
2) second question is that there is a tube that looks like it is ready to split open held together by 2 clamps on both sides. it is right next to the dip stick. is this supposed to be like that? it almost looks like a ghetto rig someone did.
3) inside, the glovebox kept rattling so i took it apart and there is a part on both sides that is broken, they look like some sort of brass looking clamps that the screws get screwed into but they are broken, i cant find any part numbers for those anywhere on the net. any one with any info?
i have included pics of all 3. any help would be greatly appreciated!

1) Thats the overflow hose for the coolant. Cheap, easy to get. Order it from a place like buymbparts.biz
2) No idea.
3) Yeah, just brass hinges. You're likely not going to find a part number. Best bet is to hardware store it and just get something that will fit/work.

I'm not an expert, but #2 looks like it might be the short hose from the water pump. I've heard it is a pain to do, so it is routinely replaced when doing the water pump and you have access.

Oil Pressure Switch / VDO
so I replaced my Oil Pressure switch today... and the same symptom is occuring ...
the cars oil pressure is pegged at 3bar... ???
not sure why???
anyother reason why this would be the case...
the wire to the sending unit was slightly exposed at the connector end.. I wrapped it with electric tape and dieelectric grease... so
fired the car up ... still pegged at 3 BAR??? sorry for the diversion... just thought you guys would know a decent fix...

Perfect!!!
It is supposed to be pegged. After many miles, you may see a small drop over time. My car was pegged for the first 10 years and 100K miles. Then I could get a slightly lower reading when the car was fully warmed up when I had a 120K miles. I've seen it on another car at closer to 2 or 2.5, but the car had 350K miles.
