Saw this poking around on craigslist, made my eyes bugger the more I looked.....

Time to put on a suit, drive to Jersey and act serious. I would love to see this thing in person, driving it must be ecstasy. Hammerwagon

Car has been discussed at length on another forum.
It's well documented but not a Hammer as it only has the 6.0L-16V engine..
Owner was and may still be Dave Shimano who was asking low $30K in a much better economy.
Car has been repainted at least twice along with major engine work.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Only one known true Hammer wagon that is in Atlanta.

As Ed stated, it isn't 100% authentic. I have the utmost respect for the car the way it sits with the 6-0 in there, like I said would still love to drive it. Either way it's a nice example, but has undergone a few surgeries; and a 6.0 sex change. Bugger, as in the British english (non derogatory) vernacular.
Ed, just to quench my curiosity could you post the link to the in-depth forum conversation? I may learn something other than to look for the mark of the Hammer's 5.6
M117?

The conversion of the Canadian delivery M103 to the 6.0L 16V was performed by AMG Central in Westmont IL.
The car was featured both in Car & Driver who dubbed it a "Mallet" and in the MBCA Star magazine.
My post #4 on the below link has the pdf's of the two articles.

There was also a discussion on the Peach Parts forum...
I had been considering this car for several years and last communicated with the owner at the end of 2010.
Current price is way out of line considering what Ruskin's Hammers sold for at a B-J auctions in 2010.
