Oh a low millage then

Congrats on hitting 6 figures.

Your car is now officially run in properly. It should now start feeling a bit looser and more revvy. LOL

Enjoy.

Andy B

166,000 miles and still oil tight (well after the gasket and all that!).

Congrats on passing 100K Miles

My 90' 230E just passed 100K KM, and I am a new owner in Hong Kong

I have a question, Can any W124-er help me out:

What is the circle warning light on the left to the oil warning light means?? (as seen on the below picture from tifosiv122 )

Cos' mine keep blinking irregularly when driving, but the car drives prefect! really annoying, you know.

Appreciated.

If I remember correctly (Sold my 124 like 8 years ago, I had an E220) its the brake pad wear warning.

It is the front brake pad wear indicator. As the pads get more worn the light will stay on permanently, with no more blinking. You need pads soon, but the dealer told me that it isn’t an emergency. The light is an early warning system, so you have time to get it fixed. I was told that only the front brakes have the wear indicators, so you have to just check the rear. Based on the different amounts of brake dust in the front and rear, the front will need to be replaced more frequently than the rear. My current ratio is about two sets of front brakes for every set of rear brakes. Then you may also need rotors. The dealer will not turn the rotors, so often they need to be replaced. My independent mechanic will turn the rotors once, if they can be returned to specifications. In fact, after he turned the rotors, my brakes felt better than they ever did with new rotors. I complimented him about how tight the brakes felt and he told me that after turning the rotors, the brakes can be adjusted to slightly closer tolerances so there is less play in the system. I always thought the brakes engaged lower on the pedal than other cars I have owned, but the dealer said that this was normal functioning for the Benz system. Since the brakes can stop the car like crazy from any speed, I never really worried about it. These cars have awesome brakes. :p

Thumbs up

Thanks ksing44,

Actually I have just replaced the front brake pads and the sensors few weeks ago.

I took off the right front wheel and found that my mechanic didn't hide the sensor cable well, so it was scarching somewhere and the plastic warp was a bit broken. thus the blinking of the warning light.

Now I hide the cable inside the sensor plastic cap and everything is fine.

Also I agree with you that turned rotors are better than new one.
Maybe because they are " head-treaded" with day to day driving and would not shink anymore when turned.

W124 has really excellent brake!

Thanks for all you help!
