Penny wise . . .

It seems I was a bit penny wise and pound foolish. I pulled the filthy pollen filters when I was troubleshooting my climate control problem (posted another thread). I checked with the local supplier for replacements, but they were more than twice as expensive as my online supplier, so I decided to wait and order them. I figured that there shouldn't be much of a problem, but boy was I wrong. Without the filters, a dry leaf somehow got into the fan squirrel cage and created a nasty ticking noise (ironically, this happened at a local German car day show). I spent several hours this afternoon disassembling the fan housing just to extract the leaf! Those on-line filters ended up costing me dearly! At least I was able to lubricate the fan and wiper assembly and clean things up (paint some faded black plastic parts).

Lesson learned.
