I think I found my problem

Cel on and running rich. Hard starting every once and a while idle surge. So I figured I would take a look. Guess my first thought was the right one.

Anyone have a cheap place to buy a new throttle body?

What part number do you need? I have one sitting in my garage.

Both 95 and 96 non-ASR 104s are 000 141 57 25, but you wouldn't want to replace a throttle actuator over crumbling wire - too easy to rewire it.

I have a 002-140-2453 (B1 290)
It is pictured below. I don't have the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) with it, just the mechanical body.

Sure, fairly common practice. Here's a DIY on it - http://www.restoreyourmercedes.com/M...%20rewire.html There are others as well if you do a search. Most people really over-do it, military grade wire, etc.

Another ETA rewire DIY attached. There's as many ways to do it as there are people doing it. Get an auto electrical book at the library if needed.
