95 e320 ASR switch

I know the tire chain switch turn my ASR off up to 25 mph. But am I able to wire it where it doesn't shut off? I have read the write up on the 500e but it didn't have the built in switch.

All the 500e/e500's have the ASR (tire chain) switch on the dash.

You can fabricate your own ASR On/Off switch that operates independently of the tire chain switch. It does require three SPDT relays, several switches (to actually build a ASR On/Off switch) some wiring and knowledge about the ASR computer wiring.

Visit www.2phast.com/500e and look under the performance section, you can see how I implemented a ASR On/Off solution.

Will the pin #'s for the ASR computer be the same on the E320 as the 500E?

I don't think so. I checked the ASR schematic for my '95 E320 Cabrio last night and the ASR module only has 35 pins, so there is no pin 37 as described for the 500E. The color codes don't match either for the pins that do exist.

What I was wondering was. Can we just take away the speed sensing part of the tire chain button. Make it so that it doesn't turn off after 25 mph.

I believe that speed shutoff feature would be located in the computer itself, but I could be wrong. Another option would be to install a relay which cuts signal from one of the front wheel speed sensors. Of course, this would mean that you will also be cutting ABS (dangerous and not recommended), but the switch could be toggled after the car gains speed to turn ABS back on. It would be worth it to snag an extra pair of factory connectors from a parts yard so you wouldn't need to monkey with the factory wiring. Just a thought.
