crankshaft sensors on M104...

As i was planning a "tune up" on my M104 and while searching for parts online i found out that it does have two crankshaft sensors, with parts number 0021539228 (around 140$), and 0021531328 (around 50$).

I know one of these sensors will cause the car to die when hot or not to start easily, but i am wondering if those affects in anyways how the car runs (performance wise), and if they show any signs of wear.
Mines runs fine, so do i change them or keep it till it goes bad? at the end of the line i dont want to change the sensors if they dont affect anything else that the problem i stated above (which i dont have)

If you are not having problems then there is no reason to replace one. If you want to test yours they should ohm out between 650-850 roughly depending on temperature. I can honestly say that in all the years I have been working on mercedes I have seen only a couple of bad sensors on this era engine. On the new stuff however I replace them constantly.

so they dont affect the performance in any ways?
I never changed those neither in 10 years of owning two W124's, actually had no idea that they were available :S
