Nakamichi vs Becker?

![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have been really going a bit nutso with my research of this list and the rest for a car audio solution for my 93 300 CE Cab. Most of the new face plates are so animated I just wanted to get a refurb Becker and live with the result.
But now I just found a Nakamichi that seems almost like they were thinking of us. Its understated. Its CD and aux. Its a DIN mount. Sounds too good to be true.
http://www.amazon.com/MBVI-Nakamichi...0278987&sr=1-4
So, is the single DIN mount standard (2x7) accurate in our cars? Can I really just slide this new head unit in on the factory rails?
I understand the wiring is going to need to be tweaked, just wanted to know about the head unit fitting without (much) modification,
Thanks, Bob
P.S. I really would like the fader wheel to work after installation. Why is this so tricky for an (apparently) 6 speaker system? Or are there 7 in a cabriolet? Anyway, whats the rub there?

Yup standard size, just slide and lock the new frame in place. Modern units have built in faders so the wiring setup is a bit different. Plus the stock unit runs separate amps for the different channels. For some reason, i'm under the thought that the head unit has an equalizer splitter; the door subs are on their own low frequency amps--but then again I might be really wrong here.
You might be able to find the adapter kit so you don't have to chop and solder wires but i'm not entirely familiar with your setup.
Tho that Nakamichi looks plain boring,, so much so that the illumination might even match! I guess you'll have to put the TV in the visors!!

Hey Bob
What about a used MB One !
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Ben...#ht_600wt_1344
And this says if you want you can get becker to mod it to support iPod etc
http://web.mac.com/dakota/Becker/3302.html
OR there's the aftermarket one's from Becker which have all the things you need

Thanks Stormy. I did take a look at these and thought wither go with what came from the factory or upgrade.
Once I pop the unit out and see whats been done I will probably upgrade to something with more output. I think the amp in the trunk is toast.
Cheers,
Bob
