which antenna "american style"??
Hello everybody!
I own a 250D 1986 and used a importet USA 1990 300E for modyfication:
leather, elek. seats and so on...
In this USA 300E was a switch for a elektric antenna for USA use.
Behind the switch are the next cables:
1: bleu 2 x
2: bleu/yellow
3: bleu/green
4/5: braun and bleu/grey for illumination
I have a wire-diagram but whitch antenna do they use in the USA?
Many thanks for your answers from Holland!!
Klaas

Klaas!
I am so glad to help you, the part you want is available and thanks to stormtigers on this list you can get all the info you need on the antenna mast in one of his posts. Look down the thread lists to one called:
W124 ANTENNA MAST REPLACEMENT - GOOD SOURCE
This is the American Style mast you are looking for.
Best,
Everyone here.

which antenna "american style"??
Hello,
The problem is not the antenna-mast or antenna but which type antenna
American style is:
Radio on: antenna comes out half (about 12/13 inches) off its totaly of 25 inches
by the switch you have a choice:
totaly up: it go's the fully 25 inches in the air
down: no antenna at al
Look at the uploads:
I want to know which type of "solid state" they use in the USA
Many thanks for your answers
Kind regards from Holland
Klaas

I think maybe you are asking what model antenna mechanism is installed in the USA ? Nearly all Mercedes worldwide use Hirschmann antennas but the model number would vary depending on the MB Model and Series.
Recently I had to replace my mast only BUT the antenna mechanism I had was a Hirschmann but was not one Hirschmann recognised as a valid model number. As it was later explained to me by Malcom from UK CAR MASTS, Hirschmann changed from manual drawings to electronic drawings for their antennas and he believes that some models have been lost in the conversion process. However he was able to pinpoint what part I needed and very inexpensively too for such a quality product.
Most Hirschmann models were specific to a manufacturer of car and in the case of the 300E in 1990 I believe the Hirschmann AUTA 6000 FE-F10 was the model number.

You might also try sending Malcom an email at enigma57@gmail.com introduce yourself as being from Mercedes Benz World and explain what you want. He is an ex-Hirschmann employee and what he doesn't know about antenna's for the Mercedes would fit on the head of a pin ! He should be able to pinpoint exactly what you are after and even supply what you need if required.

Thanks for your answer and tips!
I wrote it wrong: it's 'model' not 'type'.
I will send Malcom an e-mail, also to de firm Hirschman in Germany
My German is better than my English...
Wenn I have the answers I give the information on this forum!
