A/C Conversion to R 134 from R12
maybe this of any interest to some of the European forum users. I have a 260E '90 and acc. to Murphy's law the A/C went out, and needed refilling, during the present heat wave in Europe. I was checking for sources of R12, but it's illegal in the meantime. There are some replacement products in the market (R413A...) but no shop in my area to refill the A/C.
I went to my MB dealer (where I normally not go) and asked what to do. They converted my A/C to R134, changed the compressor oil, the dryer bottle and two pressure sensores, charged me $ 350.- and now its "Winter" in my car again, and I'm thrilled. About 4 years ago I was asking to convert the A/C to R134 and they told me it's not worth it and needs a total compressor overhaul incl. new valves and what else +$ 1200.- . Now obviously they learnt it works also cheaper.
