Antenna mast replacement
A while ago shortly after I purchased my W124 a deer jumped into my car and severely bent the antenna. I bought a replacement one and pulled the plastic thing all the way out that was attached to the old antenna. My motor does not work but I don't care because it seems pointless to lower and raise it. I'm kind of confused- Where does the plastic cord attach to on the new antenna? This seems very over complicated. Help and guidance would be appreciated. Do I have to go digging around inside the trunk?

The "tooth'ed" platic cable should be already attached to the mast internally !
Did you buy one that didn't come with the cable pre-attached ?
If so then it is designed for a manual antenna mechanism not an automatic one as installed on most W124's.
When you insert the new cable down into the antenna it will engage on the gears and drag the cable and the mast back into the antenna body and into the closed position. Beyond that I have no idea how they attach the cable inside the mast - all replacements I have seen come with a cable.
