Hi,

I have a 1992 300e w/130k. Car is originally from California.

The check engine light came on and I took it to my guy, but the code was inconclusive. He replaced the fuel cap and turned the light off. It came on again the same day. Took it back with same code result (inconclusive).

Turned the light off and it stayed off for a few days, but came on right after I filled up. I pulled over to see if I put the cap on tight enough, which it was. Opened the cap and fuel came spewing out.

Haven't been able to take it back to my guy. After the fuel goes down 1/4 of a tank, checked again and no fuel spewed out. There is a whoosh like when you open a bottle of soda, but was told this is normal. Have filled up since, and fuel came spewing out again when I opened the cap right after.

Any ideas would be most helpful!

Could it be something not related to fuel?

One of the more commen causes of a check light in the 104 motors is the egr valve & tube clogged with carbon deposites.

Thanks ohollenbeck! I only thought it was fuel related because of the fuel spewing out after fillup.

The egr valve fix you linked to is above my head. I guess I'll ahve to take it in.
