Alarm problem after replacing fuses...screwed?

E420 1995

Hi all. So in an effort to replace the cheap parts and get down to the heart of my idle stalling issue I decided to replace all fuses in the main box. All seemed well until I tried to put the red "c" fuse back in which sets of an alarm, not the honking alarm but a normal sounding car alarm. As far as I know there is no other non factory alarm in this car.

So basically if I put the fuse in, alarm goes off, if I try to leave it out and start the car, alarms goes off.

Any help would be great since I can't move until I get this worked out. Starting to wish I didn't replace the fuses, ugh.

Thank you.

btw i have searched all around and can't find any reference of someone having this issue due to switching fuses. is it possible this is some secondary car alarm that the previous owner installed and i am un aware of? or did Mercedes have another alarm in the 1995 E420 that did more than just flash and honk (the only alarm i knew it had)?

solved. turns out there is an after market alarm in there that no one mentioned to me. it's a mat-5c and a seco-larm ss 057. they were hiding under the instrument cluster.

i think i'll have them both ripped out today. good to know this isn't a mercedes alarm issue.

thanks all.
