Whenever i take a turn that twists the chassis there is a loud clunk that comes from the trunk area. it seems to happen more often on left hand turns but does happen in either direction. any ideas??

Check your sway bar links. They are plastic which makes them cheap to replace but easier to break.

- Check the rubber exhaust hangers - it could be hitting something if they are missing/worn.

- Check the remaining rear suspension links - are any damaged?

- Check the 4 rear sub-frame mounts - one or more may be broken.

- Check the two rear differential carrier bushings - I had a bad one of these and it clunked during acceleration/deceleration (like that which might occur driving the twisties).

- Did you remember to take the dead body out of the trunk? Seriously, check to make sure there is nothing lose back there, especially in the spare tire compartment.

Now that's funny! Is your Spare tire snug?

If your car has SLS, (I'm not sure it was even offered on a 300E), it could be your gas shock accumulators.

Look at the flex discs on the driveshaft. They might be tearing.
