......at me, but I've got a question. I noticed an abnormal amount of moisture vapor exiting the 400E's exhaust. Probably a "seeping" head gasket I presume (no water in the oil, no oil in the water). How's about a bottle of Bar's Leaks HG-1? I have heard (really, seriously) several favorable comments and no negatives, about this particular product. I would just use it until I have time to remove and refurbish the heads, probably in 4-6 months from now.

I'll throw a question at ya...does your coolant fizz? It should be pressurized but after you open the cap, hear the hiss, and then, does it continue to fizz like soda??

If you have water going into the cylinders, you'll have gasses going into coolant..

Short drives along with high humidity would do that. Nothing a call to ghostbuster's couldn't take care of...

I agree! Take it out, drive it like you don't own it for an hour, than look for water from the exhaust. It is most likely condensation from the metal heating up in the exhaust system.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your replys.
Did you know that a 400E will run over 130mph?
Oh, and it doesn't "leak" water any more.
It does, however, cringe when it sees me coming, now.
Amazing thing, these old 400E's, they ride just as adroitly at 130 as they do at 30. TOTAL command of the road, like no other automobile that I have ever driven!
Thank you for your help.

I had a '93 400E as my daily driver for 6 years until it was smashed by a careless driver in January. It would, indeed, cruise at 130 like a dream. Mine also hit the 150 MPH limiter like my foot slipped off the gas. Best car I ever owned. I know the 500E is the one all the collectors want, but the 400E is such a great car and can still be had for decent money. If you end up buying it, enjoy it. I sure miss mine

Edit: Oops, I must have been reading part of another thread and thought this was a car you were looking at buying instead of one you already own. In that case, KEEP enjoying it! They are awesome!
