Starting Problems with 1991 300E 3.0 Liter W124

Car initially starts and operates without any problem. Get get 2 miles down the road, suddenly run’s very rough sputters, bucks and stalls out. After many re-start attempts over 15 minutes, car starts, smoothes out and runs fine rest of day

Or pull into parking lot, shut car off car, returned 10 minutes later, car will turn but will not start even after many attempts. Leave car and return 20 minutes later, car starts right up and runs smooth again.

What's going on? Appreciate recommendations and suggestion(s).

Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the tune-up suggestion. Did several months prior to starting problem began. Replaced wires, plugs, rotor and cap.

Still don't know what's going on. Appreciate recommendations and suggestion(s).

Thank you in advance!

do a fuel pressure test. I had extact same issues in a different car and it turned out it was losing pressure due to a bad pump
