HELP - 95 E320 Cab - Fan issue
hey guys, my 95 started acting weird. the thermostat decided to climb to 110 and it seems the aux fans (2 at front of rad) did not kick in. of course turned car off, it cooled down. after sitting and cooling the overflow looked low so i topped it, and simply ran the car in the garage. same thing happened - so turned it off. BUT the reservoir now was nearly filled up....anyways whats the scoop? after it cooled down the reservoir went down to normal level. fuse looked ok. could it be a thermostat? relay? or what? any ideas? Thanks

There's a strip fuse for the aux fans up above the brake booster. I had to replace mine last summer when I noticed my fans didn't kick on in traffic with the a/c running.

You may want to check the fan circuit first. This is easy to do. Locate the refrigerant pressure ("temperature") switch near the receiver/dryer, front left fender. This will look like: ![](http://www.autohausaz.com/secure/PartImages/0048206810.jpg)
With the car running and the A/C on, short the sensor leads. The A/C fans should run. If they do, something else happened to cause the over heating.
If they don't, there is also a 30 amp blade type fuse on the fan relay itself. The fan relay is located under the fuse box cover in a compartment just behind the fuses themselves. It is accessed by removing four phillips head screws at the edges of the fuse panel.
If the 30 amp strip fuse described above is intact, check the fan relay fuse. There are three relays with fuses in them in that compartment. The A/C fan relay will be the relay with the green fuse, but while you're in there, check all of the fuses as the Aux cooling fan relay has a 15 amp (red) fuse on it as well.
