Exclamation 1990 W124 idles very high - adjust how?

This had been intermittent idle speed problem , ranging from 600 - 1500 (it would oscillate) but now has settled out at 2000 RPM. I need to set a the correct spec which is what, about 700 rpm or so? How is this done please?

Could this be vacuum problem or fuel air mix? I don't understand this system yet. Can anyone assist please?

First of all you have to check for vaccum leaks, before getting into anything else. Common place is under the throttle body. It cracks from heat

high idle

this car is new to me. How do I identify the vacuum lines? Is there a schematic or something else on line? I'm familiar with common rubber vacuum lines, but see a lot of thin plastic hoses/tubes on the engine. Suggestions?
