W124 1988 300e engine swap
Hey boys and girls,
I own an 1988 300e i6 3.0L. its a beautiful engine and i like it very much. Unfortunatly the previous owner wasn't too careful and sold it to me with engine cooling problems. Now with my enthousiastic way of driving I may have hurt my engine. it's constantly dripping oil when parked and there is an issue about oil finding it's way inside the air bowl, my mechanic can't seem to find where it's getting from. Now I was wondering instead of fixing something that is ultimately get worst would it be an easy fit to do an engine swat with an earlier model, there is an e420 v8 (m119) for sale and i would be interested in finding if it could be swapped in my w124 without burning a hole in my wallet. How would the motor mount fit. Now I'm asking this because my mechanic is quite amazed at the condition of the car underneath it's seen plenty of winter and the sub frame, is clean clean clean. I feel it would be an awesome platform to start a project.
