86 300E manual
Unhappy Ignition Control Module

i i need info on ignition control module. i brought my car to a garage for them to change the starter and clutch. before that the car is working fine.itss just the starter just died. then they told me that i have to change the ignition control module. is it possible i know that part is expensive. any info will help. thanks.

The EZL ignition control unit probably isn't cheap. I can't imagine why it needs to be replaced, as it's mostly solid-state components. I believe the first EZLs were made by Bosch, and they were being replaced by Siemens. Check the EZL and see who makes it. If it's Bosch, then get a new one. Otherwise, get a second opinion.

its hard to get a second opinion coz the car wont start and its in the garage. right now iam looking for a used part. i dont want to get it towed to a different garage. the thing that puzzle me is that its working fine before i brought it to that garage. i brought it there to change the clutch and the starter.

At least take a look at the EZL and see who makes it. If Bosch, replace. If Siemens, OK. However, the unit might in fact be defective, in which case it has to be replaced.
