I have an 88 300E that I am doing a head gasket on and the machine shop found that there are 3 - 4 lobes of the cam wore down. I really dont want to spend the >$400 for a new one so does anyone know if an '86 donor head will solve my problem? I'm looking at either swapping out just the cam or the whole head if that would be better since the rocker arms will be matched.
