"88 300CE- First Year Production
Beautiful car, I say you atleast tripled your cars value or even more. Fellow '88 CE coming for ya, haha. You might say I'm nuts but came across a deal and bought a wet nitrous plate system for my 5.0 engine build. I love how you painted the grille surrounding to match the car but left the slats chrome. Got me thinking of looking for a factory grille again now. Is the black benz also yours?

I only drove the wide body once this year... I've been busy traveling a lot & the Porsche's are much more exhilarating for weekend runs when time allows. I still love looking at the WB, though I should probably sell it.
It's funny to see your 'it's finished' thread - I really thought that you would have the car done quickly once it went under the knife as you had a great plan. Many thought that my build took way too long, though few realize just how much time and effort it takes when your goal is to create a level of fit & finish that adheres to Mercedes' quality (especially with a W124). Well done.
Enjoy it Ed.

They were shot side by side for a feature magazine article...
Interesting that twenty years apart they share the same wheelbase, overall length and widebody width...kind of the first E chassis widebody and the last !!!

Glad to hear it... Sounds like you got lucky with Sandy's path.

I'd estimate about 500 manhours labor on the sheetmetal alone.
Much time was also in research and contacting global sources to get it as correct as possible to the original AMG build.
No real help in the USA even from ex-Westmont employees as AMG North America never built any full widebody C124.
BHMA built a "light" version, more like 500E contours on a C124 which is currently owned by a member on another forum...
I've learned over the years that even basic resto work done to a high level takes much longer then imagined !!!
