W124 260E 89'

W124 Engine swap

Hello,

i own 92' W124 E260 with automatic transmission. But its body is kinda tired. So I'm about to buy 89' W124 E260 with manual transmission, but its engine is broken, so I need to swap engines. I just want to know if its possible to mount my current engine ('92 E260) to the donor (89' E260) I'm about to buy? Hence the different engines?

They both should be the M103-12V and interchangeable.

I beleive the only difference would be in the differential ratio, but you dont have to worry about this if you are keeping the manual transmission. Engines should be exactly the same. If you are planning on swapping the automatic gearbox too into the new ride, then you should check if the diff ratio's are the same (which i doubt) and if not, swap the diff too.
