Does anyone know how to turn off traction control in a 1994 E500? (It's too intrusive). I just noticed recently that the car can go over 100km/h in first gear, or is it second? Does the car usually stay in second when you start off?

I have an ASR defeat switch in my '92 500E, I also have a 1st gear start and 275/40/17 rear tires.
My car is so much quicker out of the hole than stock.

Your car will always start in 2nd unless you move the shifter to B or you kickdown when you pull away.
If you kickdown ASR will come on and slow you down.
I have a ASR switch that you can buy if you want.

You can also just un-plug the front wheel speed sensors (but you do lose ABS)... they are located up on the front shock towers and look like big RCA plugs.

BTW, RennTECH is having great discounts on their W124 stuff...I got my ASR defeat switch for $500 recently but not sure if I want to put it in just yet...my ASR insn't that intrusive with my 245/17s in 1st gear.

Hey David, how u been? Who made your extra switch and how much? If you still have may I send someone who wants your way?
