![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
ok, my first post....... i tried this at a different site, and i got eaten alive...... anyway
im just tryin to find out what kind of engine mods. i can (theoretically) get done to a 300e (one from 87- 93)
now my friend has a '92 300ce and he put some kind of chip in it to give it more HP i guess. what i wanna know, is can i do that, is there a supercharger or turbo that i can put on it, if so what would the specs be? all im tryin to find out are my options. my buddy said something about being able to slap a slk supercharger onto a 300e, is that so?
any info or help or links would be appreciated. thanx

A chip is useless since our cars (including your buddies 300CE ) are electromechanical fuel injection...you may as well throw a bag of Doritos under the hood..
As for the Super or Turbo, they will be big money, be prepared to spend 5-10K to get it to work properly and be relatively safe for your engine.

LOL, yeah cause Slick 50 is supposed to be used in conunction with the VORTEX air filter tubo, netting 550HP at the wheels!! heh
Sorry to hijack...back on topic, i struggled with the lack of power in my 300E as well and came to grips that for the same amount of money it will take to make it fast, I can buy a 500E.

FlyingGuy,
The M103 (specifically 103.983) motor in all 300E's from 1986-1993 is essentially the same with little modifications made from year to year. It makes about 177HP, has a 9:1 compression ratio and is VERY difficult to tune outside of its normal operating range.
Your buddy's car is a CE, so it has the M104 engine which is entirely different in its engine management approach. Adding/changing a chip on this engine could result in some gain in HP.
For the M103, as stated, there is nothing that will add appreciable HP without a bucket of cash (5-10k). So most of us either enjoy them for what they are, or take the 10k and the 300E and buy something faster, like a 400E or 500E. I lust after the 500E myself, after having a 500SL (129), I think of how awesome it must be to have a 124 with 325 stock ponies scrubbing rubber off my rims.
