My '86 300E will start most times, but will not start on occasion (hot or cold). I used either once and it started, so I believe it's fuel related. How do I check the fuel relay?

The car always had a unique starting procedure: I turn the key on and allow the ignition buzzer to stop (or a few seconds) before starting the car.

The car runs strong when started.

I read alot, tested less, made an educated guess and replaced the fuel pump relay. Problem solved, thanks to MBWorld.
