Noisy exhaust

Just had my original rear muffler replaced with an Eberspaecher. Now the exhaust has a bit of a "throaty" sound like a performance exhaust. It gets louder and more resonant around 2000 RPM. Does anyone know what causes this? I can't stand it!

check the joints if they are sufficiently sealed and dont draw or blow air.

Some of the difference may be due to carbon buildup on the old exhaust. The new one is clean and doesn't have the sound dampening effect the old system had. Like bamberger said, check for leaks. A short length of garden hose used as a stethoscope would help. Or if you're careful, wave your hand around the joints to feel for puffs of air.

I'm going to take the car to my mechanic and have him take a look at it. And I'm not paying for that!

If carbon buildup = quiet exhaust, then I like carbon. Mmmmm, carbon.
