Water Pump retrofit information help

Hi to all.
I'm replacing a water pump on my 300E '86. The pump was never been replaced. I'm shopping for parts and I realized that the new pumps is equiped with a drain line and a new return line.

1. Is the drain line necessary to all new pumps?
2. What is the use of the water drain hose and lower drain line included on the kit?
3. Is there a kit for the new return line. Does anyone knows part number for it?

Thanks in advance.

ellie

attached is the pump kit.

Ellie,

The new pump uses the new return line because the angle of the return neck has change on the new pump. If you try to use the old hose, it will likely rub against the poly belt and rupture. the new drain line should connect to the tube coming from the water circulation pump for the ACC system, on the right inner fender. A host connects these two. If your car does not have ACC then you likely have a grey market car. I do not have the part number handy, but can get it later today if you like...

Of course I am assuming that you are in the US, if not, this could all be different enough to make my info useless.

Hi Ellie!

Please see the attached pics..., the big black hose attaches to the lower fitting on the water pump and the lower fitting on the left side of the water pump.

This is the drain tube, relative to the engine and water pump...

Thanks a lot. I also manage to get a picture of the water pump kit with a better resolution. Now I understand where it goes.

Anyway another thing I was looking at is getting a laso water pump. Then I looked at the picture and I noticed a posibility of an extra line. attached is a picture.
I encircled the extra hole.

I just want to verify if it does exist or it is plugged.

a million thanks again..

elie

It is plugged. On several other brands it is simply cast closed. So it looks like you are all set.
