Quick question on '88 300E
I have a friend that has the opportunity to get a 1988 300E with 116K miles for their 16 year old daugher.
The car was well maintained by a family member.
The questions they have are;
1) How safe is this car. Obviously it is not up to todays standard, but with a drivers airbag and a fairly solid structure, I assume it is a safe care for a new driver.
2) Are there any common issues they should know about and watch out for? Any specific work they should make sure has been completed? (Recalls, updates, etc.)
3) How costly is it to maintain a car like this for everyday use? Is it reasonable or will maintenance likely eat up the savings of getting the car for nothing?
