Looking into supercharging the M104
Well you know how it goes, you say you are not going to modify this one, that this one will be left untouched and then one thing leads to another and soon you are looking into all sorts of mods.
Prompted by being easily overtaken by a WRX yesterday and having a hard time to pass Z4 last week I think I need more power.
I realize turbocharging is the way to go, but it is a bit more complicated due to the custom headers and oiling. So I am thinking of using an M90 Eaton found on Supercharged Ford Thunderbirds for the task. I happen to have a mint one that was for a Jeep 4.0 project that I never finished.
Is this feasible? What problems might I encounter? Will the engine and tranny stand up to the boost? Will I need to get a custom fuel and engine computer?
I am aware of having to fab custom mounts and pulleys and tubing, thats easy....I am more concerned about fuel, breaking things, and having computer problems.
