1994 E320 Sedan belt tensioner USELESS!!!!
First thing I noticed is the belt squeaks like nothing else, and I pop the hood and the belt is ridiculously loose. I can take it off the pulleys without even using tools.
The tensioner rod is broken (the top spins but the bottom that goes to the tensioner pulley does not move)
I loosened the 10MM allen bolt, and the tensioner STILL WONT MOVE!!!!! I even hit it with a hammer and it won't budge, so there must be another bolt somewhere. I have searched this problem for the past 20 minutes and nothing...
can someone please tell me what I am missing, and where to find it?
What am I missing? I found another 13MM bolt slightly above the 10MM allen and that allowed me to move it the quarter of an inch... help!
I removed my tensioner, the rod, and the belt. I believe that shop the previous owner took the car to installed the wrong size belt. I have a new belt and tensioner rod on order. I didn't see the need for a new tensioner or pulley, it's a piece of metal on a rubber wheel that has no play in the bearings. Hoping those new parts make the car run properly.
Thanks again for replying, no one else has yet to reply to any of my threads posted on this website.
