1995 E420 Phone Too Loud on Startup!

Yep, the phone, although removed from the car, still has a dial tone and voice communication through the speakers on startup and it is extremely loud! Is there a way to disconnect this since analog telephones do not even work anymore?

Alternatively, can an iPhone connect to the speakers/microphone for clearer calls?

Well...I looked at that area in the trunk. No idea what I am looking for. Does anyone have a diagram or something?

Or,

Remove the input to the left speaker from the phone system.

The left dash speaker has TWO connectors- one from the stereo and the other from the phone. Remove speaker, unplug, put back together.

That sounds easy enough! How does one get to the speaker? It looks solid to me!
